History of Koprulu Canyon
History of Koprulu Canyon;
Koprulu Canyon ( Koprucay) is one of the rare tourism regions of our world-famous country. In 1973, it was designated as a national park site. The region,
which has an area of approximately 360,000 decares, is very important especially in terms of rafting tourism today. So, which years does the history of Koprulu Canyon ( Koprucay) date back to? Koprulu Canyon is known to be close to the ancient city of Selge, within the living area of the Romans. There are old stone water canals and bridges that are still standing today. The ancient city of Selge, founded in 5 BC, has a historical ancient theatre, temples of Zeus, cisterns, temples of Artemis, aqueducts. It shows that a crowded life was lived in the region. Thanks to the stone bridges, which are important transition points of trade, it has been a passageway to Pamphylia. Today, the arched stone bridge, still known as Bugrum Bridge, stands tall in its splendour. There are hundreds of natural water sources within the steep canyons in Koprulu Canyon ( Koprucay). The water required for rafting flows uninterruptedly in summer and winter thanks to these sources.
